in the middle of moving house at the moment and not feeling settled enough to get in to any form of rhythm or regularity with painting. these last two paintings took such a long time to feel right. with each of them i felt they were done and so i left them for a few weeks. then when i came back to them i realised they made me feel unhappy, disappointed and disconnected. i decided to take the leap and radically change them. i ended up two paintings that much better reflected how i was feeling. the shifts taking place in life at the moment seem to be fogging up my art lens making creating art a lot slower process than normal. however i feel like this pace which i wouldn’t usually go at is forcing me to really reflect on what i’m doing, how i connect to painting and what i want from it.
drawing in details 2022
i found my old camera so i will finally have better pictures! i hate putting lots of time and energy in to a painting and not being able to take a decent photo of it. this painting took a while to do because i couldn’t quite find the balance. in the end i left it for about a fortnight and suddenly had the guts to take a few things off.

leisure day details 2022
The starting point for this painting was inspired by a mug i got for my birthday by Niko June. This started a trail of thought which eventually led to me thinking about sick days. This further evolved into an idea for ‘leisure days‘ where people were allowed time off to relax and ‘be’.
